Asheville Fly Fishing Company Overview About

We understand people go fishing for different reasons. Here at Asheville Fly Fishing Company we aim to exceed your expectations on and off the water. As a guide-owned and operated service, we are committed to providing you with the trip of a lifetime. We value long-lasting relationships with our guests and enjoy sharing memorable days on the water. Each trip is designed tailor-made to meet your needs and ensure you get that day on the water you dream of.

We specialize in teaching fly fishing techniques, tactics and fish psychology. We are professional, hard-working guides who love bringing people to the finest waters this area has to offer. We welcome anglers of all experience levels and enjoy helping our clients develop their fly fishing skills. For more advanced thrill-seeking anglers, we can provide you with the most challenging yet rewarding fly fishing you will experience.

Guiding is our passion. Sure we love catching fish on our days off, but sharing the experience is far more rewarding. We are problem solvers who enjoy the connections and process just as much as the pull. We push each other to be innovative, aware of the fine details and to always anticipate the next move gracefully and with respect. Being a professional guide requires a diverse set of skills, not just being able to put people on fish. Among the most significant, being a great guide means adapting to and knowing guest’s preferences, sometimes before they do. Our goal is to give you the best service you have ever experienced, and to always enjoy as much river experience as possible while putting fish in the net. So our first time out with you, we are taking notes on the details that make a difference to you. From the moment we meet you onward, we go the extra miles so you are right where you want to be, fishing better and laughing louder.

We specialize in guiding Trout and river Smallmouth Bass in Western North Carolina and East Tennessee.

You know, there are a few things that make a fly fishing trip better than catching the fish. Number one in my book is laughing and having a good time. That’s how I would describe Galen. He’s fun. Number two, you need a guide who knows the waters and provides you the best opportunity to catch fish and it’s always nice if you guide provides you with great equipment – drift boat, waders , fly rods and flies – and that’s Galen too. I have fished with many guides across the US – from the Keys to Jackson Hole, WY. I’ve been guided on the tailwaters of Arkansas to the flats of the New Orleans marsh and with out question, Galen is at the top of my favorites. Give him a call and you’ll not only have a great fishing experience, but most likely find a new friend. Ben Ragsdale, December 21, 2016

Galen has tremendous local knowledge and is as helpful and courteous on the water as you could hope for. The brown trout and smallmouth fishery is fantastic!
