Hi there! I’m Captain Cameron Whitaker, a Hatteras Island native. I started fishing with my father at a young age aboard his charter boat, enjoying the offshore waters of Hatteras, NC. At the age of 10, I got my first boat! A 16-foot Carolina Skiff, with which I had many fishing adventures. The experience was amazing, and I learned the local waters while navigating through the Pamlico Sound.
At 16 I began my career as a first mate aboard the Cap’n Clam, a local inshore head boat. I spent my summers fishing with a variety of folks, learning something new from every individual. I also spent many days working aboard the Miss Hatteras, an offshore head boat, catching pelagic species and bottom fish. At the time, fishing was only a summer job since I was beginning my college career at East Carolina University. At 20 I was a first mate for Captain Rick Caton aboard the Free Agent, fishing for a wide variety of species. I spent every day from the beginning of May to the middle of June sight casting for cobias and gained an extensive amount of knowledge and experience in regard to inshore and nearshore fishing.
During the summer of 2015, I decided I was ready to chart my own course and purchased my first inshore charter boat. Since my dad is a charter fisherman, it seemed only natural that I follow suit! I am very excited about this new venture, and I cannot wait to give everyone the experience of a lifetime.
Cameron was great. We lived how he included the kids in everything he done, catered the fishing to them. It's all about making memories with the family , and we did. Clamming was awesome. Cameron and our son Ben had a competition on who could catch the most. We highly recommend Cameron and Tradition fishing.
"Be patient and calm - for no one can catch fish in anger."
