I'm back in town from a good long family vacation. If anyone wants some cold weather slabs, (let's go get some.) Also found some good sized fish on Lake Eufaula. The winter bite can be good when you find them they will be concentrated in certain areas. I had good luck with the hair jigs I tie. 8 to 11 feet deep suspended in 29 to 31 feet deep they were nailing the jig. So much fun I had enough for dinner, and had trouble getting off the water.
Got my self a good bow buck this morning. I missed this same deer in muzzleloader season he was pushing a doe and I took a running shot at him, Been kicking my self for taking a high risk shot at a good animal. But low and behold I got a rare second chance. And was able to harvest this buck with archery equipment. Thank God for this great sport we all get to participate in.
Well today was my last trip for a little while. I will start back up the week after Thankgiving Its been an incredible year. A big thank you to everybody who fished with me this year. Going to take some time off and spend it with my family. Might even end up in a tree stand. This is Lawrence, Nori, and John catching 75 crappie out of Lake Eufaula. Hair jigs and minnows done some nice work for us. A well deserved thank you for these two men who served our country. They are both Vietnam veterans.
Bob and Kirby fishing with me today on Lake Eufaula. Caught over 50 fish keeping around 40 to clean. Caught half of them on Hair jigs the others were caught on live bait. 12 to 16 feet deep in brush piles mid lake area were the water is clean. Kirby just over comming a stroke called the day short only fishing 3 hours. I was honnered to put him on fish and show him a good day. Fishing is a treat we all take for granted and never even think about it when we are healthy.
Man Y'all are good my last post I ask which jig was the best color. Most people voted for #10 and the fish concur. Keener built Hair jigs are catching more than minnows so far we will see how the day goes.
Alright Guys and Girls I need your help making some decisions. I hand tied some hair jigs today starting from top being #1 the bottom being #10. Tell me which # you like. Which ever # gets the best results I will tie more up and test them on the Crappie. Notice these are tied up on a 2/0 hook. I will fish them on a Kentucky rig with a weight on the bottom. I just enjoy trying new things and using different techniques.
Joel all the way from Florida called me a few weeks ago about the opportunity to Gather backstrap and Crappie fillets. I accepted the request and Oklahoma have him the gift he was looking for. I have been kicking around this combo trip idea for sometime it was my first experience being a hunting guide. He got it done his first evening. So that was really cool it worked out. It was a small buck but he just wanted the meat for he and his wife.
Joel and Kevien on there day two action on Lake Eufaula. Kevein had a long drive back to Missouri so he called the trip at 11 a.m. satisfied with 30 nice slabs. Crappie were caught with spoons and minnows and hair jigs. The jig bite is comming back with these cooler water temps. 8 to 14 feet was the depth we were getting out best bites. Thanks for spending your time with me guys had a great time with y'all.
What a surprise to catch these fish this morning with Joel and his friend Kevein the conditions were Rising water levels, water cooling off fast with fog and water color stained from all the rains. They ask me before we left the ramp is it worth it and I said we will never know if we don't give it a try. Made a big change from a Kentucky rigged minnow to a spoon and then it was game on. Thanks for Fishing with D&K Guide Service.
Daniel and Tommy fishing with me today on Lake Eufaula. I was surprised with this cold front how well we wound up with 60 fish caught. Crappie were caught in 14 to 20 feet holding tight to brush. Fall Fishing is in full swing had a blast with y'all on the water today.
What a change in the weather . It did not seem to effect the fish bite. Without a thermocline we are catching fish in every column of the water they are scattered for sure. Jim was the only brave man for a pic today . Had two other clints not photographed which were Gary and Rod. Gary and his crew come down often enough I look forward to there arrival we always have a great time on the water. Thanks for fishing with D&K Guide Service.
Bob and John fishing in this rain with me today on Lake Eufaula we had a around 40 to clean at the dock when the trip was done. Thanks Bob and John for sticking it out with me. They threw in the wet towel around 12:30 and said they were satisfied. I made a move up the lake to find some cleaner water due to the rains we been having thanks for fishing with D&K Guide Service.
It was just me and Teddy today on Lake Eufaula. Teddy was traveling though town for the day and only wanted to keep 10 fish for he and his wife For the dinner tonight. These crappie are very healthy. Scott and Rick catching a bucket full of fall crappie on Lake Eufaula they threw back plenty of eaters but I was not gonna complain. They have a lot of fish in there freezer they were looking for some advanced fall techniques . This weather is so great loving every bit of it. Pattern was mostly open water, The fish are eating on large shad balls. 10 to 14 feet of water. Thanks Scott and Rick for your repeat business with D&K Guide Service.
John and Harold on day two with D&K Guide Service wanting to go catch some big ones, not numbers. So Holly cow did we find some. Biggest fish 2.5 pounds with a few more right at two pounds. All fish were quality sized. Thanks for coming back year after year which has been for 10 years now that's crazy time flys by. Pattern was deep 19 to 25 feet in structure.
John and Harold catching a bucket of good sized crappie out of Lake Eufaula today. It was cold and wet with this cold front that blew in. The bite was still on though, catching fish on structure in 6 to 8 feet. Thanks John and Harold for your repeat business year in year out.
Greg, Sheldon, And his two sons Jackson and cage. Caught some quality crappie out of Lake Eufaula today. I can't be live how much to water has came up over the weekend the fishing was still good though. It was all about getting these kids on fish so we had 40 keepers today but the potential and opportunity was there to catch a few more for sure. water temp was down to 75 degrees. Fall fishing is all about adapting to change cause the weather will be throwing plenty of curve balls.
Taylor Keener and Jaden meux fishing for Crowder High School. Had three Keepers today over 16 inches. Landing them in 8th Place in the Oklahoma bass Nation event. I'm proud of these boys the lake was fishing extremely tough. But they never gave up and they stayed focused which is hard to do when the bite is slow. A big thanks to Oklahoma bass Nation for putting on these tournaments.
These boys make me one proud boat captain. Fishing Oklahoma High School two day tournament. They Had a top 10 finish yesterday. On Lake Teenkiller. They are back on the same lake that is fishing very tough. With there heads down and there hopes high.
Yep we are those crazy people who fish in pouring down rain. Billy till and his two sons Chance and Coleman called the day at 50 fish. Thanks For spending your time with me it was fun slinging crappie with y'all. See you next year guys.
