Welcome to Wood River Ranch . Wood River Ranch operates on 2000 acres of land bordering the 2.5 million acre Shoshone National forest just outside of Meeteetse, WY. It is a diversified operation running yearling cattle, selling hay, outfitting hunters and fisherman.
Fishing-Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout - Cutthroat Slam: For those fishermen in pursuit of the Cutthroat Slam, the Wood River is a renowned Yellowstone Cutthroat fishery and at Wood River Ranch, we take it up a notch. By fencing our riparian areas and restricting those areas to foot travel, our river bottom has flourished. All of our river fishing is barbless, catch and release, fly fishing only. Our guides implement strict fish handling techniques so we can ensure that it will stay that way for generations. For those more novice fishermen, we have two ponds stocked with Yellowstone Cutthroats which are catch and keep if you like and we will prepare them for you that day! All trips are guided. Our Specialty Is: Yellowstone Cutthroat, Cutthroat Trout, Cutthroat Slam.
Hunting. We offer elite guided trophy hunts for Merriam Turkey, Elk, Mule Deer, Whitetail, Pronghorn, Mountain Lion, Shiras Moose, Estate Bison, and Big Horn Sheep. With Five Star accommodations at the ranch and a licensed Wilderness Camp in the Shoshone National Forest, we offer the best of both worlds. Uniquely located up the Wood River, our hay fields are the highest irrigated ground in the valley. This makes us a natural hotspot for Mountain Wildlife like none other. The flexibility of being able to hunt from high in camp, and down at the ranch allows us to be able to hunt where the Elk are, no matter the weather. We take a limited number of hunters each year to ensure minimal pressure and maximum trophy quality. You are guaranteed to see staggering numbers of wildlife of all species, and experience the finest in western hospitality. Merriam Turkey Area 10 . We have the rare opportunity to hunt Merriam Turkeys in on of the most picturesque places the Mountain West has to offer. We have an excellent population of birds on the ranch year round, and hunters can expect an exciting Turkey hunt in Elk country! We enjoy a 100% success rate and our Toms exhibit the stark white band on the tail feathers, characteristic of a true Merriam. Deer Areas 116 and 117. Elk Areas 62 and 63. Pronghorn Antelope Area 110. Our Antelope hunt can be a great addition to an Elk or Deer Hunt. Shiras Moose Area 9 & Big Horn Sheep Area 5. Because of the difficulty involved with drawing these tags, we like to talk to hunters with tag in hand.
Wood River Ranch Accommodations : At Wood River Ranch we enjoy the finest in luxury western accommodations. Our Lodge features a commercial kitchen, fine dinning room and living areas, two fire places, a billiards room, a custom made bar. With plenty of windows and a wrap around porch, we enjoy a spectacular view of the Wood River Valley, framed with Noon Point as its backdrop. With lavishly appointed interiors, it’s truly a gem of the west. Not to be out shined, our two guest cabins are equally matched. Hawks Rest features 4 rooms, each with a private bathroom, queen size bed, gas log fireplace, refrigerator and private sitting area under a very large window overlooking the valley. With a large porch and a million dollar view, it’s a favorite for our fishermen as it is situated right on the banks of our stocked trout pond. The Bunkhouse is far more than the name implies. Newly renovated, it features six rooms with a common living area ,complete with a kitchen and his and hers community bathrooms. Both cabins wouldn’t be complete without 1000 thread count sheets, imported comforters and shams, Wood River Ranch bathrobes and slippers, and of course collectable works of art that reflect the spirit of the west.
