The Last Buffalo Outfitters Overview About

The Last Buffalo Outfitters maintains 20,000 acres under our wildlife management program.  This program includes conservation and preservation of wildlife resources through an extensive feeding program and maintenance of native prairie habitat.

All our upland hunts are fully guided with a maximum of three guests per guide. Our unique feeding program enables us to have multiple options to cater to your preferred hunting style. For those sportsmen who prefer taking long walks behind pointing dogs, this is your place. For those who aren’t able or willing to walk as much, we can easily accommodate and hunt less demanding terrains.

There are few thrills that compare to bringing a mature Rio Grande Tom turkey to the call. The sights and sounds of a gobbling, strutting bird are truly majestic. Spring time in the panhandle makes for great getaway. Whether you bring a bow, shotgun, or just your camera, it's an experience that any sportsmen will cherish.

Most of our White-Tail country consists of concentrated cover along creeks and rivers. Most deer travel along this cover and its fringes. Typically these creeks and rivers will be hunted from two man ground blinds or tree stands overlooking a feeder placed in high traffic areas. Some setups will consist of a ground blind set up on food plot edges or on travel corridors between feeding and bedding areas. Typical shots from these setups will be 100-200yds, but due to the open terrain there will often be shot opportunities 200-400yds.

Another common setup we use is to setup on farm field edges. This tactic usually consists of setting up on field edges in the morning and evening and maneuvering into position after spotting a trophy. This spot and stalk hunting makes for a very exciting hunt. Opportunity at a deer that will score 140" gross B&C is a realistic expectation and is our goal for all of our hunters. Again this is not a guarantee, but in 2009 we had 95% of our hunters get a shot at a mature (140" ) buck. Our average for 2009 was 145". Average live weight for a mature Panhandle White-Tail is around 200lbs., with several deer each year weighing over 250lbs. and occasionally one over 300lbs. Our 2011 Deer Season is primarily focused on archery which opens the 1st of October. With lots of interest from last year, spots are becoming limited, give us a call or send an email to book your bow hunt today.

*We do enforce a wounded animal policy on all big game hunts. If you draw blood, it's yours.

Once a thriving community bank, our 8,000 sq. ft. lodge has 6 individual bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, a basement with an additional seven beds. Two unique fireplaces make for a relaxing atmosphere, the old bank vault makes an extraordinary gun safe, and don't forget your swimming trunks for our hot tub. We regularly rent our lodge during the summer for family reunions, church retreats, and even as a quiet getaway for couples seeking solace.

Meals at The Last Buffalo are worth the trip alone. Breakfast is served at the lodge every morning and is always excellent , lunchtime offers a quick break from the action and is served in the field. Dinner each evening, served back at the lodge, consists of a four course home cooked meal that is top notch and always plenty.
