About
Silverback Lodge is located in northern Delaware County, New York, near the town of Oneonta, about three hours northwest of New York City in Region 4 of the Southern Zone. We offer both guided and semi-guided hunting on private land for wild turkey in the spring and fall and whitetail deer hunting during rifle, archery and black powder seasons. The area we hunt has historically been among the top turkey harvest areas of New York State. Our goal is not only a safe and successful hunt but to share three decades of knowledge and tactics with you to improve your future hunting experiences. Our hunts are tailored to the experience and physical abilities of the individual and both beginners and more seasoned hunters are welcome. Lodging is available in one of the many hotels and motels in the area. The Lodge is also available for weekly rental, both during hunting season and in the off season. We are located within ten minutes of Oneonta and its many restaurants, sporting goods stores and gun shops. Great fresh water fishing as well as golfing and many other activities are within easy reach of the Lodge. During the summer we offer salt water fishing for Striped Bass, Bluefish and Fluke on our six person charter boat and, for larger groups up to fifty persons, the sixty foot party boat SHAMROCK IV, which sails from New Rochelle in lower Westchester County, New York. Take advantage of over three decades of hunting and fishing experience and book a trip with Silverback Guides.
"The great body of our citizens shoot less as times goes on. We should encourage rifle practice among schoolboys, and indeed among all classes, as well as in the military services by every means in our power. Thus, and not otherwise, may we be able to assist in preserving peace in the world. The first step – in the direction of preparation to avert war if possible, and to be fit for war if it should come – is to teach men to shoot!"
