Thank you God for one more bull... For me every successful elk hunt, even after all of these years, feels just like my very first year bowhunting when I arrowed a spike bull. I will never take the opportunity to hunt the amazing bull elk for granted and forever appreciate the incredible meat yielded off of these beasts which my family lives off most of the year. I arrowed this bull from 55 yards after stalking 400 yards through a logging clear cut with just socks on my feet. I pulled my boots off because it was a calm evening and dead quiet at times where this bull was feeding. I made a perfect shot and watched this 6x6 Oregon Roosevelt go down in sight within seconds. A razor sharp broadhead placed with precision is amazingly lethal. Bowhunting has defined me for many years and I don't see that ever changing. I am drawn to difficult endeavors and killing big bulls with an arrow definitely qualifies. If I never experience another successful elk hunt I'll be ok knowing this one gave me all I love about the bowhunting lifestyle...challenge, hard work, heavy packs, beautiful country, majestic animals and spending time with good people, Ron Hofsess and Kevin Akers , who are more like family than hunting partners. #ieatelk #borntobowhunt

The Salmon update: Significant numbers are staging in the lake in front of the river and are steadily moving shallower and closer as their spawning behavior takes over. The LOC derby is reporting good numbers of Kings with a number over 30 pounds. All these fish look healthy and well fed! The derby has 5 fish already that are bigger than last year’s winner! There are small numbers of Kings in the river now and there are still a few Smallmouth Bass throughout the river. There continues to be good evening hatches and there are numbers of parr steelhead and landlocked salmon working back to the lake.
